‘Back in the Saddle of a Fever Dream’: Western Terrestrials find extra-terrestrial Vermont
On July 4, Vermont-based country band Western Terrestrials released the track “Ethan Alien” on a variety of streaming services from its newly minted “Back in the Saddle of a Fever Dream” album.

The song delivers the message of Vermont as “a sanctuary state for weirdos and aliens and other outsiders,” according to co-writer Nick Charyk. He imagines an alternative Vermont history in which the Green Mountain Boys’ leader was actually a little green man.

Old Crow Medicine Show's Ketch Secor Teams Up With Vermont's Nick Charyk on 'Ethan Alien'
Nick Charyk was halfway through a Segway tour of Savannah, Ga., during a family vacation in March when he had an extraterrestrial encounter of sorts. The leader of one of his favorite bands, Old Crow Medicine Show, had made an out-of-this-world proposal on his own group's Instagram page.

Singer and fiddler Ketch Secor wrote: "y'all gotta cool vibe. let's cowrite a song. I'm gonna give you the title and u take from there: Ethan Allen Wuz An Alien."

The humorous tune centers on a man who prefers to drown his sorrows while listening to Roger Miller albums. Fittingly, it was produced by the country legend's son, Dean Miller, at Omnisound Studios in Nashville.
